Privacy Policy for London Dock Compass
Last updated: September 3, 2026
London Dock Compass is published by MaybeItsSoftware Ltd ("we", "our", or "us"), a company registered in the United Kingdom, which is the data controller for any personal data described in this policy. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Wear OS application, London Dock Compass (the "App").
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access the App.
1. Information We Collect
A. Location Information
To provide the core functionality of the App (pointing you toward the nearest Santander Cycles docking stations), the App requires access to your device's location.
- Fine and Coarse Location: With your permission, the App accesses your device's real-time GPS coordinates and location data.
- On-Device Processing: Your location coordinates are processed strictly on your Wear OS device to calculate the distance and compass bearing to the nearest docking stations. We do not transmit, store, or share your raw location coordinates with any servers.
B. Device Sensors
- Compass/Magnetometer: The App accesses your device's heading/compass sensors to determine which direction your watch is pointing, enabling the compass needle to rotate correctly. This sensor data is processed entirely on-device and is never stored or transmitted.
C. Network Requests & Third-Party APIs
- TfL BikePoint API: To retrieve real-time bike and dock availability, the App queries the Transport for London (TfL) BikePoint API.
- Anonymity: These requests are anonymous. No personal identifiers, IP addresses (beyond standard network transport headers), or location coordinates are sent to TfL as part of these queries.
D. No Personal Information
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, phone number, contacts, or account credentials.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the data accessed by the App solely to:
- Determine the closest bike docking stations relative to your current position.
- Display the distance and direction (compass bearing) to those stations.
- Fetch and show live bike/e-bike/empty-dock counts on your Wear OS screen and watch face complication.
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
- No Data Selling: We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your information to third parties.
- Service Providers: The App utilizes Google Play Services (such as Google Play Services Location) to obtain device coordinates. Google may collect data in accordance with their own privacy policies.
4. Data Retention
Because all location and sensor data is processed in memory on your Wear OS device and never sent to a server, we retain zero user data.
5. Security of Your Information
We use standard Android security practices and permission models to ensure that access to your location and sensors is secure. You can revoke the App's access to your location at any time through your Wear OS device settings (Settings > Apps & notifications > App permissions > London Dock Compass).
6. Children's Privacy
Our App does not collect any information from children under the age of 13, as we do not collect any personal information whatsoever.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this document.
